Chen-Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) Workshop in Oklahoma City
Discover the roots of Chen-Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) — the oldest and most traditional form of Tai Chi, directly connected to its original martial heritage. Unlike many modern interpretations, Chen-Style Taijiquan preserves the art’s explosive martial origins while developing deep relaxation, internal power (neigong), and whole-body coordination.
Even today, top martial artists, including UFC champion Zhang Weili, train in Chen-Style Tai Chi to enhance full-body strength, coordination, and the ability to generate powerful, integrated movement.
About the Workshop
Join us for a two-day intensive workshop introducing the Chen family Gongfu frame in the lineage of Chen Zhaokui. Participants will learn:
- Foundational postural and movement principles
- Basic form practice (taolu)
- Partner drills and introductory push-hands (tui shou)
This workshop is open to all levels — from complete beginners to experienced martial artists seeking to deepen their internal mechanics and body structure.
Instructor: Ryan Craig (Laoshi)
The workshop will be led by Laoshi Ryan Craig, founder and head instructor of Philly Chen Taiji. With over 30 years of martial arts experience, Ryan is a disciple of Nabil Ranne, who himself is a disciple of Chen Yu, son of Chen Zhaokui and grandson of the legendary Chen Fake.
Ryan is a certified 13th-generation Chen family Taijiquan instructor, formally recognized by the Chen family in Beijing. This will be his first time teaching in Oklahoma City, and we look forward to giving him a warm Okie welcome!
